Startcommit not found

Process: calling peass select with start- and endcommit.
It seems intuitive that it should work to choose any endcommit and as startcommit any commit that is shown by git log (when git is at the endcommit).
Instead it is currently only possible to choose startcommits from the same branch (those that can be traced back as the first ancestor of each commit).
