Error: [o2:runtime] External modules are not supported: "events"

So I'm trying to get the shopify tokengated storefront going. Tutorial link is here. When I get to the step of integrated the wallet connect package I'm running into this error. This is happening when I use the ThirdWeb sdk and I get this error to the console.

I abandoned the shopify/connect-wallet package because it's very out of date but it was giving me similar complaints about the buffer module instead of the events module. Overall I don't think this is the issue specifically as it looks to be around how MiniOxygen is compiling and this happens when I load in the browser, NOT at the time of npm run dev.
