Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
boundary desktop client should automatically check for updates after launch, or at least have the option. automatic update can also be great.

Describe the solution you'd like
once launching the client, check and compare current ver with latest available and offer to update if possible, there can be a turn on/off swich for the feature.

Explain any additional use-cases
i dont have any notification about new versions that enable new features, unless saw a talk on youtube about it, or something. so i adopt new too late.

Additional context
im working on win 11,didnt see the other builds.

Hi @ninjadude333 - we have this capability within the Mac version of the Boundary Desktop Client but I see that you're on a Windows environment. Unfortunately, we don't have a similar auto-updater functionality within the Windows version of our desktop client. There are a few workaround for this:

  1. Manually check the releases page for newer versions of Boundary Desktop Client here
  2. Some customers use a endpoint management tool (e.g. MSFT Intune) to manage their fleet of end-user devices and use that mechanism to push out newer versions of our desktop client, once it has passed their internal QA. This allows them to ensure that their end-users are on a supported version of our software and that there is version consistency across the fleet. You might want to explore this route if you're supporting a larger deployment.

I will leave this FR open for now to gauge interest from the rest of the community.
